A small few people are missing the point of the Sellaband/Casper article on my website www.mandyleigh.com .
The main point is not that Sellaband were full of `broken` promises and `dreams` that didn`t arise. I wrote about that side of Sellaband to let people know of my experiences with them, so new artists knew what is and isn’t possible. (I recall one artist (who seems to be doing quite well) asked me if they should give their job up when they hit the 50k!)
No, the main two points of my article are:
- Sellaband offered their expert advice on Deep Sea Green, and then don’t back up their words with actions. They have betrayed me.
- Casper van Vulpen’s ridiculous claim that I stole the music, meanwhile he effectively steals my melody and lyrics to I’m Not Crying as I have never seen one penny from it’s sales.
And the reason my post was linked to from the Sellaband 50k forum, is because I am a 50k artist and it was about Sellaband.
Sellaband have now locked the post so no more comments can be made. Seems they like to pop things back in a box and push it down as hard as it can go. As long as it doesn`t pop up, they seem to be happier with that. No responsibilities, no replies, nothing…
Have I heard from Sellaband? You must be kidding…

Back to the music…
Casper van Vulpen has admitted that “I`m Not Crying” does belong to us both, 50/50. BUMA/STEMRA offered no help or light on the subject.
The facts still remain… Casper was asked to be professional and be a part of “Deep Sea Green”. He was uncooperative and then refused to answer 2 further emails. I confided and trusted the advice and expertise of Johan and Adam at Sellaband and Mick Glossop (the producer I put my trust in to make my album baby). Johnny Scott wrote and arranged new music for “Deep Sea Green”.
I have been told not to worry about all of the slander and defamation that Casper had written on his profile page about me. Goodness knows where else and to who else. Easy for internet users to search for more than one year.
I am left without support from Sellaband (my so-called record label who I am in a business contract with) or royalties (through BUMA/STEMRA) from my album. I am not sure whether it is just “Deep Sea Green” or the whole album that has been frozen in funds.
I have remaining promotional budget which is frozen.
The funds for “I`m Not Crying” are non-existent, as is any knowledge on the song. No-one has told me anything. I wonder what Casper has spent with his monies from it? A new pair of cowboy boots? Jeans? A car? I have neither seen, nor heard of any monies from this track from the time it has been released (in about November 2007, I was informed by one of my believers), to the present day.
I am left in the dark.
In my opinion, any one who thinks that this kind of treatment is right, is unprincipled and callous.

I guess it was a day of fast food and promotion… After Mum and I had a coffee (we had Zeth with us) and lunch at McDonalds we got into the car ready to leave when Mum looked left (from her front passenger seat) and saw a gentleman really enjoying his McDonalds burger. Mum said, “I`ll give him a card, wait a minute”, as she fumbled around in her hand-bag (she had already been giving out quite a few cards in the morning).
Mum has an amazing knack of talking to people, promoting, and being “Mum”.
So the man (Brian Coogan) seems very interested in her promotions saying that, “she is a great PR person and proud Mum”. We then find out that he is a presenter on Curtin university radio and has promised to play my music on his show tomorrow between 1pm-4pm, where they play music from the 50`s, 60`s & 70`s… Fits the bill then!
We gave Brian a copy of “Fire & Snow”, a card and plenty of chat.
